The area of Velika Reka is declared to be highly rich in fish and is great for fishing during the entire year. The most common catches are huchens, graylings, trouts, catfishes, zenders, carps, barbells, chubs, breams, etc. The water of the lake is not stagnant but has slow flow. Its depth is between 1.8 – 14m. Approximately 3m from the object’s shore, the depth of the lake is 3-4m and 5m from the shore it reaches 7m. Due to this fact, fishing with a slip bobber is highly recommended. As bait, worms, black worms, earthworms, leeches and smaller fishes are proved to be the best. Since there are a lot of predatory fish in the lake, fishing lures are good. When using a slip bobber, it would be good to make balls out of bread and groundbait which would be thrown near the bait. It should be kept in mind that the catch should be placed in fishing cages and well secured in order to save it from otters which swim in this clear water.
